Dahua Junior High School was established in 1992 and admitted its first students two years later, in 1994, created to relieve overcrowding at the original Daya Junior High as the district's population expanded. Around 2009 to 2010, the school launched an art-talent program, giving it a distinct identity alongside its standard academic curriculum and helping it stand out among Taichung's western-plain junior highs.
大華國中創立於民國81年（1992年），並於兩年後的民國83年（1994年）招收首屆學生，設立目的是為紓解大雅國中因人口成長而產生的過度擁擠問題。約於民國98至99年（2009至2010年）間，學校成立美術班，為其一般學術課程增添了獨特的辦學特色，也使其在台中西側平原眾多國中中脫穎而出。
