A name reframing a district's identity.
Dadao Junior High opened in 1962 as Dadu District's first and, to this day, only public junior high school, having started life a year earlier as a branch of Shalu Junior High. Its name, 大道 ("Great Way"), is drawn directly from the Confucian classic Book of Rites — and doubles as a wordplay on the district's own place-name, 大肚, reframing local identity through a Confucian ideal.
