An old swallow-emblem school with a modern choir.
Dacun Elementary traces its roots to 1914, when it opened as a branch of Yuanlin Public School under the name "大庄分校." In 1916 it was renamed Yanwu Public School, echoing the township's historical place name "燕霧大莊" (Yanwu Dazhuang) — a heritage still reflected in the school's swallow (燕) emblem today. The school took its current name, Dacun National School, in 1941, and in recent years has become known nationally and internationally for both its choir and its English-immersion teaching.

Dacun's Yanwu heritage.
