From a branch campus to a community anchor.
Liuhe Elementary began in 1948 as a branch of the neighboring Raoping school, becoming an independent school in its own right in 1953. In December 1982, the school established its lunch program, a milestone still remembered as part of its steady development. Perhaps most distinctively, the school song references the local banana and rice farming that lines the Zhuoshui River — a small but telling detail of how deeply the school is woven into its agricultural surroundings.

Songs of the Zhuoshui River plain.
The school song's references to banana and rice cultivation reflect Citong Township's agricultural heartland, part of the same fertile Zhuoshui River plain that also sustains the township's noted pomelo (文旦) and betel-nut farms. See the Yunlin county page for more on the region.
