A name from wartime China, a site from postwar Taiwan.
Chongqing Elementary opened on 1 August 1990 under its first principal, Fu Yuning, on land that had previously been home to the 台貿九村 military dependents' village in Wuquan Village. The school's name honors Chongqing, the wartime capital of the Republic of China during World War II, reflecting Banqiao's history of housing KMT-era migrant communities from mainland China after 1949. Its campus buildings are named 廣和樓, 和平樓, 五權樓, and 重慶樓, and the school today runs English Day activities, a robotics program, and taekwondo and volleyball teams.
