Chielao Elementary began in 1941 as a branch teaching station of Fenyuan Public School and became an independent school, "Chielao National School," in 1946. It took its current name in 1968. The school celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2016 with a sports festival, and its current principal is the 19th to lead the school since its founding. A notable alumnus, Hung Qingzhang, went on to serve as a former Fenyuan Township chief.
茄荖國小前身為1941年設立的芬園公學校分教場，於民國35年（1946年）獨立設校，初名「茄荖國民學校」，1968年定名為現今校名。學校於2016年舉辦創校70週年運動會慶祝活動，現任校長為創校以來第19任校長。知名校友洪慶璋曾任芬園鄉鄉長。
