From a rice-paddy hamlet's branch class.
Chengzhou Elementary began in 1921 as a branch of Wugu Common School serving the Chengziliao (成子寮) settlement, becoming an independent school in 1941. The campus was historically surrounded by rice paddies on both sides of its entrance road, reflecting the farming character of the old Chengziliao hamlet — a low-lying river-plain community within Wugu near the Tamsui River tributaries.

A farming hamlet's landscape.
Chengzhou Elementary's name and setting come from Chengziliao, an old farming hamlet on Wugu's low-lying river plain near the Tamsui River's tributaries — a landscape once dominated by rice paddies surrounding the school itself. See the New Taipei county page for more on the region.
