Born from earthquake recovery.
Chelongpu Elementary School was established between 2000 and 2003, with its first students enrolling in 2001. It was created partly to relocate students from Guanglong Elementary School after that school suffered damage in the 921 earthquake, and was originally conceived as an experimental early-childhood and elementary demonstration school. Like Guanglong, its name references the Chelungpu Fault, the geological feature responsible for the 1999 earthquake.

🌏 A Name Tied to the Fault Line
校名同源於斷層
Like Guanglong Elementary, Chelongpu takes its name from the Chelungpu Fault, the geological feature responsible for the 921 earthquake.
Sharing a name with the fault line.
Chelongpu Elementary shares its name — and its earthquake-recovery origins — with Guanglong Elementary, both referencing the Chelungpu Fault that ruptured in the devastating 921 earthquake. See the Taichung county page for more on the region.
