A school born of growing pains.
Beishi Junior High was established in 1989, carved out of neighboring Shalu Junior High as Shalu's population boomed and its original school could no longer accommodate the growing student body. The school takes its name from Beishi, a rural settlement on the Dadu Tableland, reflecting its roots in the district's older agricultural landscape even as the surrounding area urbanized.

The school's name honors Beishi, a rural community on the Dadu Tableland whose history predates Shalu's modern urban growth.

戰後分校設校潮的一環
Beishi Junior High is one of several schools born from Shalu Junior High's overcrowding in the late 20th century, alongside Luliao Junior High.
A name from the old tableland.
Beishi takes its name from the Dadu Tableland's "north terrace" landform — one of several place-names across Shalu, like Luliao and Luyang, that trace the district's older rural geography even as new schools and neighborhoods have grown up around them. See the Taichung county page for more on the region.
