Chenguang Elementary began life in 1955 as the "Houogou Branch" of Beichen Elementary School, serving families in the northern reaches of Beigang Town. It became an independent school in 1959, taking the name Chenguang National School, and has served the community ever since. Today the school rounds out its academic program with after-school clubs, including table tennis and classical guitar.
