Rebuilt by a community after disaster.
Baoshan Elementary began in 1947 as a branch school of Fenyuan Elementary. It became independent in 1960 as "Baoshan National School," after the devastating 1959 flood known as the "Eight-Seven Flood" (八七水災) destroyed much of Fenyuan Elementary and prompted local residents — led by Zhang Shuilin and Chen Jinjü — to raise funds, along with township and provincial government grants, to buy land and rebuild. It took its current name in 1968. Students have gone on to place first in shuttlecock at the Huaguang Folk Sports Championship and third in Earth Science at the Changhua County Science Exhibition.
