A name that carries Indigenous history.
Anli Elementary School was founded in 1916 as a branch class under Japanese rule, becoming an independent school in 1918. Its original wood-frame brick school buildings and flag platform have survived well enough to be designated a municipal historic building in 2013. The school's name, Anli (岸裡), directly preserves the name of the historic Ansali Pingpu Aboriginal community — one of the most prominent Indigenous settlements in the history of the Taichung basin.
