Beside a former military village.
Zili Elementary was founded in 1964 and celebrated its 60th anniversary in October 2024. The school sits next to the former Zili New Village (自立新村), a KMT military dependents' village, and the public-housing redevelopment later built on the same site — tying the school directly to Zhongli's postwar wave of Nationalist veteran settlement. Today, Zili runs a Hakka-language featured-school program (客語特色學校), reflecting the district's layered mix of communities. A new activity center and gymnasium, shaped like a rectangular mini-dome, has been under construction in recent years.

🎂 Six Decades of History
Zili marked its 60th anniversary in October 2024, celebrating six decades of serving the neighborhood around the former Zili New Village.
A crossroads of Zhongli's communities.
Zili Elementary's location, directly beside a former KMT military-dependents' village, ties the school to one strand of Zhongli's layered migration history — the wave of Nationalist veterans who settled in the district after 1949. Its Hakka-language program adds another thread to that same story, situating the school at a genuine crossroads of the communities that make up modern Zhongli.
