Zhuyuan Elementary began in 1952 as a branch of Xiatan Elementary School before becoming an independent school on September 1, 1954, and celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2024. The school shares a centralized kitchen with neighboring Lucao Junior High School for lunch service, and runs an active anti-bullying hotline and reading promotion program alongside a website dedicated to indigenous/native-language (本土語言) education. Its students have earned recognition beyond the campus — including a county-level English recitation honor won by student Liao Pei-yun in 2026.
竹園國小前身為民國41年（1952年）成立的下潭國小分校，民國43年（1954年）9月1日獨立設校，並於民國113年（2024年）歡慶建校七十週年。學校與鄰近的鹿草國中共用中央廚房供應午餐，並設有防霸凌專線與閱讀推動計畫，另建置本土語言教育網站。學生也在校外屢獲佳績，如廖姵妘同學於2026年榮獲縣級英語朗讀獎項。
