竹田國中位於竹田鄉西勢村,服務屏東縣六堆客家地區的這個農業鄉鎮。學校作為縣立公立國中,深植於當地客家開墾歷史與昔日米糧集散地的鄉土脈絡之中。

Located in Xishi Village, the school serves as a community fixture for families across Zhutian Township's farming villages.
Rooted in the Liudui Hakka heartland.
Zhutian Township is the "Zhong Dui" (中堆, Middle Pile) of the historic Liudui 六堆 Hakka militia confederation, formed by Qing-era Hakka settlers from Guangdong and Fujian to defend their farming communities. Once known as "Dunwu" (頓物) for its role as a rice and grain trading depot — with goods shipped via Longjing Creek and the Donggang River to Donggang port — the township today is also home to the Pingtung County Hakka Culture Museum. Zhutian Junior High's students grow up immersed in this living Hakka heritage. See the Pingtung county page for more on the region.
