From a language training center to a national environmental school.
Da'an Elementary traces its roots to 1931, when it began as a Japanese-era "national language training center" during the colonial period. It was formally reorganized as an elementary school in 1968. The school built a strong reputation for environmental education, winning Taiwan Province's top environmental-protection school award in 1995 and being named one of the nation's top-10 environmental schools in 1996. Today it runs tea-arts classes in partnership with local tea producers, tying the school directly to Zhushan's hillside tea-growing heritage.
