From junior high to a complete secondary school.
Zhuqi Senior High School was founded on December 1, 1957 as Zhuqi Junior High School, and was renamed Zhuqi Junior High under the national nine-year compulsory education reform in 1968. In the 2005 academic year the school expanded into a complete secondary school (完全中學) by adding a senior high division, and it now serves students from junior high through senior high in Zhuqi Township, the gateway community to the Alishan Forest Railway and the broader Alishan tourism corridor.
嘉義縣立竹崎高級中學創立於民國46年（1957年）12月1日，初名「嘉義縣立竹崎初級中學」；民國57年（1968年）因應九年國教改制，更名為「嘉義縣立竹崎國民中學」。自94學年度（2005年）起，學校增設高中部，轉型為兼具國中部與高中部的完全中學，服務阿里山森林鐵路起點暨阿里山觀光廊帶門戶——竹崎鄉的學子。
