Zhupu Elementary began as a branch class of Huanya National School, "Huanya National School's Zhupu Branch Class." It became an independent school, "Tainan County Yanshui Town Zhupu National School," in July 1959, and was renamed "Zhupu National Elementary School" in August 1968. The campus's historic clock tower, known as "Yanshui Zhupu Elementary's Clock Tower," is registered as a protected cultural heritage structure, a visible link back to the school's mid-century origins.
竹埔國小最初為「歡雅國民學校竹埔分班」，民國48年（1959年）7月獨立設校，定名「臺南縣鹽水鎮竹埔國民學校」，民國57年（1968年）8月改為現名「竹埔國民小學」。校內歷史時鐘座「鹽水竹埔國小時鐘座」已登錄為文化資產，是學校中期創校歷史的具體見證。
