The mother school of a mountain region's education.
Zhudong Junior High opened on April 5, 1946, as a branch of Hsinchu Junior High, established on the site of a Japanese colonial-era Zhudong elementary school. Its original boys' campus, occupied from 1951, sits on the former grounds of the Zhudong Shinto Shrine. At its peak in the 1950s, the school operated satellite branches as far afield as Beipu, Hengshan, Erchong, Jianshi, and Wufeng — educating students from Hsinchu County's mountain townships before those areas had secondary schools of their own. The school took its present name in 1968.

🏫 Nearly Eight Decades of History
近八十年校史
Opened in April 1946, just months after the end of Japanese colonial rule, the school has educated generations of Zhudong students under several names before settling on its present one in 1968.
Zhudong, historic hub for the mountain townships.
The school's 1950s branch network stretching into Jianshi and Wufeng illustrates Zhudong's historic role as the educational hub serving Hsinchu County's mountain Indigenous townships before they had their own secondary schools — a legacy still visible in the town's continuing role as an administrative and educational gateway to the mountains today.
