From a duck-farming hamlet's branch school to today's Zhucun.
Zhucun Elementary was established on June 11, 1927, as the 'Yamuliao branch' (鴨母寮分教場) of Puzi Public School, becoming independent on April 1, 1940 (Showa 15) as Yachuan Public School. Today the school shares a centralized kitchen with Datong Elementary School for lunch service, and fields active sports teams in soccer, table tennis, and wrestling, alongside a string orchestra and a Taiwanese opera (歌仔戲) program. It formerly operated a branch class called 新庄分班, established in 1956 and closed in 2004, and has earned a strong honor roll across athletics, academics, and music/cultural competitions in 2025-2026.
