From branch campus to independent school.
Zhongzhuang Junior High began in 1989 as a branch campus of Daliao Junior High, established to serve families in the northern part of Daliao District who had faced a longer commute to the district's original secondary school. It became a fully independent junior high school in 1991 under its first principal, Qu Yan-wen, taking its name from Zhongzhuang ("middle village"), the agricultural community at the heart of its catchment area.

The school opened in 1989 as a branch of Daliao Junior High before becoming fully independent in 1991, a growth path shared by several secondary schools in the district.
👨🏫 A Founding Principal's Legacy
首任校長的傳承
Qu Yan-wen served as the school's first principal upon independence in 1991, guiding its transition into a stand-alone junior high serving northern Daliao.
Named for a village of farms.
Zhongzhuang, meaning "middle village," lies in the historically agricultural northern part of Daliao District — one of several place names in the district (alongside Daliao itself, "big shed/hut," and Chaoliao, "tide hut") that trace back to how early Han settlers described the land they farmed and lived on. See the Kaohsiung county page for more on the region.
