Zhongzheng Junior High School was established in February 1962 under founding principal Hong Shui-fa, and took on its current "國民中學" designation in 1968 as part of Taiwan's nine-year compulsory education reform. With over 62 years of history, the school shares its name and heritage lineage with the historic Zhongzheng Elementary School in the same city. Its alumni association was formally established on July 16, 2017.
中正國中創立於民國51年（1962年）2月，首任校長為洪水法。民國57年（1968年）隨九年國教改制更名為「國民中學」。建校逾62年，與同城歷史悠久的中正國小同名同源。校友會於2017年7月16日正式成立。
