Zhongzheng Elementary opened in 1915 as "County First Higher Elementary School," making it the same age as Kinmen County itself. Over the following decades it changed names repeatedly: it became "Wujiang Elementary" in 1932, was merged into "Kinmen Public School" under Japanese occupation in 1937, and was renamed "Zhupu Town Center National School" after Taiwan's retrocession in 1945. Following the 1949 Battle of Guningtou, the school was split into four separate quarter-schools before later being re-merged, and in 1978 it was renamed Zhongzheng Elementary School in honor of President Chiang Kai-shek. Today it is the largest elementary school in Kinmen County.
中正國小創校於民國4年（1915年），初名「縣立第一高等小學」，校齡與金門設縣同年。此後校名數度更迭：民國21年（1932年）改稱「浯江小學」；日治時期民國26年（1937年）併入「金門公學」；台灣光復後民國34年（1945年）更名為「珠浦鎮中心國民學校」。民國38年（1949年）古寧頭戰役後，學校一度拆分為四個村里學校，其後再度合併，並於民國67年（1978年）為紀念蔣中正總統而更名為「中正國小」。學校現為金門縣規模最大的國小。
