Zhongyun Junior High opened in 1988 as a branch campus of a nearby school, becoming an independent junior high in 1991. The school sits in Zhongyun, a coastal fishing community in Linyuan District, and its campus grounds were reclaimed from salt-tolerant tidal fishpond land typical of the area.
中芸國中於民國77年（1988年）以鄰近學校分校形式成立，民國80年（1991年）獨立設校。學校座落於林園區中芸——一個濱海漁村社區，校地由當地常見的耐鹽潮汐魚塭地填築而成。
