Zhongyun Elementary was founded in 1944 under Japanese rule as a branch classroom of Linyuan National School (林園國民學校中芸分教場), becoming Kaohsiung County Zhongyun National School in 1946. It later added a kindergarten in 1988, and sits in the same coastal Zhongyun community as its neighboring junior high.
中芸國小創立於民國33年（1944年）日治時期，原為「林園國民學校中芸分教場」，民國35年（1946年）更名為「高雄縣中芸國民學校」。民國77年（1988年）附設幼兒園，與鄰近的中芸國中同處於中芸沿海社區。
