Zhongxing Elementary began in 1949 as a branch class of Xuejin Elementary School, becoming a full branch school the following year before gaining independence in 1961 and adopting its current name in 1968. The school's emblem is designed to symbolize "the sun and moon shining together, illuminating the earth" — an interpretation of "Zhongxing" (中興), which means revival or renewal. The campus sits close to the Wujie interchange of the Beiyi Freeway, connecting this small community school to the wider Lanyang Plain.
中興國小於民國38年（1949年）以學進國小分班的形式起步，隔年升格為分校，民國50年（1961年）獨立設校，民國57年（1968年）定名為現名。學校校徽設計象徵「日月同輝、普照大地」，呼應校名「中興」——意指復興、再生。校園鄰近北宜高速公路五結交流道，將這所社區小校與蘭陽平原的其他地區串聯起來。
