Zhongpu Junior High School traces back to 1956–1957, when it began as the Zhongpu Branch of Chiayi County Middle School before being renamed Zhongpu Junior High School in 1957. It became a full junior high school under Taiwan's nine-year compulsory education system in 1968, and has since celebrated a 60th-anniversary sports meet marking its long institutional history. Located in Zhongpu Village, the administrative and market center of the township, the school today runs technical/vocational skills programs, active reading promotion initiatives, and bilingual education programs for the surrounding farming community.
中埔國中源起於民國45、46年間，初為嘉義縣立中學中埔分部，後於民國46年（1957年）更名為嘉義縣立中埔初級中學；民國57年（1968年）九年國教實施後，改制為完全國中。學校曾舉辦建校六十週年運動會，見證其悠久的辦學歷史。校址位於中埔鄉行政與市集中心的中埔村，現今推動技藝教育、晨讀活動與雙語教育，服務周邊農業社區。
