Zhicheng Elementary was granted independent school status in August 1958. Like many of its Zhongliao neighbors, it was affected by the 1999 921 earthquake, and its story is featured in the Tzu Chi Foundation's '921 Hope Project' (希望工程) book series documenting the reconstruction of Taiwan's earthquake-damaged schools. In recent years, students have achieved recognition in science competitions, art exhibitions, and Hakka cultural performances.
至誠國小於民國47年（1958年）8月獲准獨立設校。與中寮鄉許多鄰近學校相同，該校在民國88年（1999年）921大地震中受到影響，其故事收錄於慈濟基金會記錄台灣震損學校重建歷程的「921希望工程」紀錄專書之中。近年來，學生在科學競賽、美術展覽與客家文化表演方面屢獲佳績。
