Shuangwen Junior High School

Shuangwen Junior High opened on August 1, 1968 with four classes and 204 students. Enrollment peaked at 15 classes in 1977, driven by Taiwan's booming banana export trade centered on Zhongliao Township at the time. The 1999 921 earthquake completely destroyed the campus; it was rebuilt with funding from the Tzu Chi Foundation and reopened on April 9, 2001, giving the school a history that closely tracks the township's economic and disaster-recovery story.

爽文國中於民國57年（1968年）8月1日創校，開校時設4班，204名學生。民國66年（1977年），受惠於當時以中寮鄉為核心的台灣香蕉外銷榮景，學校班級數達到高峰的15班。民國88年（1999年）921大地震將校舍全數摧毀，後由慈濟基金會全額出資重建，於民國90年（2001年）4月9日復校，校史緊密呼應著鄉鎮的經濟起伏與災後重生歷程。
