Zhizheng Junior High School was founded in 1982, decades after Pingtung City's other established junior highs — Zhongzheng, Mingzheng, Gongzheng, and Datong — to absorb the city's continued population growth. Located in the Beixing Village (北興里) area of Pingtung City, it remains one of the newer additions to the county seat's secondary school system.
