A distinct, newer school by an old name.

Zhishan Elementary School was founded in 1986, per local historical reporting, in the Dongshan (東山)/Tianmu area, one of Taipei's more upscale residential zones near Tianmu. Note that this is a distinct, much newer school from the similarly-named "Zhishan Rock Academy" lineage that became today's Shilin Elementary School — the two are frequently confused despite sharing a name rooted in the same historic landmark. Zhishan Elementary is notable as home to one of Taipei's earliest instances of an on-campus adult day-care center co-located with an elementary school, supporting intergenerational ("老幼共學") learning between students and elderly day-care participants.

⛰️

Situated near Zhishan Rock (芝山岩), a hill with layered historical significance — an aboriginal settlement site, a Qing-era battle site, and the birthplace of Japanese-era public education in Taiwan — even though the modern Zhishan Elementary School itself is a distinct, newer institution named after the same landmark. See the Taipei county page for more on the region.
