Built inside a hospital's staff village.
Chang Gung Elementary was approved as a Leshan Elementary branch school on August 1, 2002, and formally named 'Taoyuan County Guishan Chang Gung Elementary School' the following month. It became fully independent and began enrollment on August 1, 2004, with Chung Yueh-ching as its first principal. Its students were initially housed temporarily at Wenxin Elementary School before moving into their own completed campus in January 2005; a phase-2 building followed in 2007, and a phase-3 building — dedicated in 2016 and praised by the Taoyuan mayor as a green-building design model — rounded out the campus.

Before its own campus was ready, Chang Gung's first students were temporarily housed at nearby Wenxin Elementary School, moving in January 2005.
A school born from Chang Gung's medical hub.
Named directly after and situated within the Chang Gung Medical Village (長庚醫護新村) staff-housing community, Chang Gung Elementary is a direct product of the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital and Chang Gung University medical-education complex that anchors Guishan's northern side — one of the clearest examples in the district of a school built around a single institution.
