Zhaigang Elementary opened in April 1922 as a satellite classroom of Xuejia Public School in Zhaizigang, formally becoming an independent school — Zhaizigang Public School — in 1939 under its first principal, Endo Fujio. The school reached its 100th anniversary in the early 2020s and marked its 104th anniversary on April 1, 2026.
宅港國小前身為學甲公學校於大正11年（1922年）4月在宅仔港設立的分教場，民國28年（1939年）獨立設校為宅子港公學校，首任校長為遠藤不二夫。學校於2020年代初歡慶建校百週年，並於2026年4月1日舉辦104週年校慶。

At its centennial in 2022–2023, the school retired its century-old elephant-shaped slide and unveiled a new whale-shaped slide, unveiled by then-Mayor Huang Wei-che — a playful nod to the district's coastal aquaculture life.
