A highly unusual origin story.

Yusheng Elementary School was formally registered as a private school, "私立雨聲小學," in 1954, but its roots trace back to a 1940 employees' children's school ("立人小學") founded in wartime Chongqing by the Republic of China's Military Intelligence Bureau, under legendary spymaster Dai Li, who served as its first honorary principal. A kindergarten was opened locally in 1952, with a single attached elementary class added in 1953, before the school's formal 1954 founding. It became a public school in 1965. The school's first Taiwan-based principal was Deputy Bureau Chief Pan Qiwu; a later principal, Major General Jiang Yiying, took over in 1957. Its name, "Yusheng" ("rain sound," echoing Dai Li's courtesy name Yunong), pairs with the nearby Yunong Elementary School, which shares the same naming tribute.
