A name from Taiwan's intelligence history.
Yunong Elementary School's planning was approved by the Taipei City Government in February 1974, with construction handled through neighboring Yusheng Elementary School and completed in October 1977. The school is named "Yunong" directly after Dai Li's (戴笠) courtesy name, honoring the Republic of China intelligence chief, because the area was formerly Military Intelligence Bureau land — a direct sister naming to the neighboring Yusheng Elementary School. The first principal was Xu Yuanyao, appointed by the Taipei City Department of Education. Four teaching buildings — "Zili," "Ziqiang," and "Zifa" Buildings, plus an activity center — are arranged in a "口" (mouth-shaped/quadrangle) layout around the athletic field, and an attached kindergarten was established in 1998.

A Cold War-era layer of local history.
Like neighboring Yusheng Elementary, this school's name and site both trace back to the former Republic of China Military Intelligence Bureau compound near Zhishan Rock, embedding a distinctive Cold War-era intelligence history into this corner of Shilin.
