Named for Yanshui's own crescent harbor.
Yuejin Elementary opened on April 1, 1944, as "Yanshui East National School's Southern Branch." It became independent on February 1, 1946, as "Yanshui Town's Fourth National School" under first principal Cai Shenjin, was renamed "Yuejin National School" on February 13, 1947, and took its current name, Yuejin National Elementary School, on August 1, 1968. The school is roughly 80 years old today. Its northern A-block campus buildings were rebuilt and reinforced following earthquake damage, with the reconstruction design deliberately incorporating local cultural and historical motifs.

🎉 Nearly 80 Years Old
創校近80年
Tracing back to a 1944 branch school, Yuejin Elementary has served the community for roughly 80 years under several names.
The town once called "月津."
"Yuejin" (crescent harbor) is Yanshui's own old Qing-era name, referring to the crescent-shaped Yuejin Port that once made the town Taiwan's fourth-busiest port, per the old saying "first Tainan, second Lukang, third Bangka, fourth Yuejin" — before the harbor silted up and the town's commercial importance faded. The modern Yuejin Port Lantern Festival, held annually since 2012, revives that old place name, and this school carries it forward in its own everyday name.
