Mingtan Elementary School was established in 1952 and today serves a small community of roughly 34 students across six classes in Yuchi Township's Shuishe area, right beside Sun Moon Lake. The school celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2022, the same year it was designated a partial-domain bilingual school, and it maintains international sister-school exchanges with Kamikushige Elementary School in Japan and Ludong Elementary School in Changhua County.
明潭國小創立於民國41年（1952年），目前約有34名學生、6個班級，服務魚池鄉水社地區——就在日月潭畔。學校於2022年舉辦建校70週年慶祝活動，同年也獲指定為部分領域雙語學校，並與日本上崛之内小學校及彰化鹿東國小締結姊妹校，展開國際交流。
