Gonghe Elementary School began in 1959 as a branch classroom of Dongguang Elementary School, becoming fully independent in 1965. Set in Gonghe Village in the hills of Yuchi Township, the school's rural farming community lies within the same highland tea-growing region that produces the township's famous assam black tea. The school runs reading-promotion, traffic-safety, disaster-education, and family-education programs for its students.
共和國小於1959年（民國48年）以東光國小分班形式成立，1965年正式獨立設校。學校座落於魚池鄉山區的共和村，這個農業社區位於孕育魚池鄉知名紅玉紅茶的同一片高山茶區之中。學校為學生規劃閱讀推廣、交通安全、防災教育與家庭教育等多項活動。
