Yuanli Elementary School

Yuanli Elementary School was founded in 1898, making it the very first school established in Yuanli Township and now over 120 years old. It began with just 56 students in a borrowed side-room at Cihe Temple, a historic Mazu temple in the town center. Over the following decades, the school spawned several branch campuses — including what became Wenyuan Elementary — that later grew into independent schools of their own.

苑裡國小創立於1898年（明治31年），是苑裡鎮最早設立的學校，校史已逾百二十年。創校之初僅有56名學生，借用慈和宮（媽祖廟）廂房上課。往後數十年間，學校陸續衍生出多所分校——包括後來獨立設校的文苑國小——延續苑裡的教育根基。
