Yuanfu Junior High opened in 1970 as a branch campus of Qishan Junior High, becoming an independent school in 1972 and adopting its current municipal name in December 2010. Today it is a small school of roughly 103 students, around three-quarters of whom come from disadvantaged backgrounds, serving the Yuantan community and mountain villages spanning Cishan and neighboring Neimen.
圓富國中於民國59年(1970年)以旗山國中分校形式成立,民國61年(1972年)獨立設校,並於2010年12月改制為市立學校,定名至今。目前全校約103名學生,其中約四分之三來自弱勢家庭,服務範圍涵蓋旗山北部的圓潭社區及橫跨旗山、內門兩區的山區聚落。
