An improvised start that grew into a complete secondary school.
Approved for establishment on August 1, 1975, the school opened with just 7 classes, temporarily borrowing classrooms from neighboring Fusing (復興) Elementary School because its own buildings weren't yet ready. It moved into its permanent campus in September 1976 with 14 classes, and became a "complete secondary school" — combining junior- and senior-high divisions — in the 2005 school year. Today the school is a local point of pride for its girls' basketball program: the junior-high squad, started in 2002, took national runner-up-tier honors in only its second year, and the senior-high squad debuted in the HBL national high-school league in 2011, placing 6th in its first year.

Built to keep up with a booming suburb.
The school's improvised start — borrowing a neighboring school's classrooms while its own were built — is typical of how Yongkang's schools multiplied rapidly in the 1970s–90s to keep pace with the district's fast population growth as Tainan's urban core expanded northward. See the Tainan county page for more on the region.
