From a private school to a brand-new campus.
Yongjian Elementary School was founded in 1952 as a private school named "Zhongxing Elementary School" (中興小學), established by Niu Yongjian, then-President of the Examination Yuan, to serve the children of Examination Yuan and related government agency staff. It was transferred to Taipei City government control and became a public school in 1967, briefly renamed "Jianxing Elementary School," before being renamed "Yongjian Elementary School" in 1969 in honor of its founder.
The school relocated in 2018 because its original 4,747-square-meter site had become too small for its enrollment. Its new 2.27-hectare campus was built on part of the former National Development Institute site — with land donated by developer Yuanli Construction (元利建設) and design by Dai Jiahui Architects.
