Designated a remote-area school, Yiren today runs service-learning initiatives and arts-enrichment programs, has installed a solar energy monitoring system on campus, and offers community guided tours with English-language options alongside campus plant education.

Yiren Elementary sits in Zhuqi's Yihe Village, part of the rural farming communities that line the approach route to Alishan — and its solar-energy and plant-education programs echo the area's close relationship with the natural mountain environment. See the Chiayi county page for more on the region.
