Yingqiao Junior High School

Yingqiao Junior High School was built and opened in 1968 to meet the demands of Taiwan's newly implemented nine-year compulsory education. Its name comes from "螢橋" (Firefly Bridge), a bridge that once crossed a since-vanished stream near the Japanese-era Kawabata Park (川端公園) in the nearby Gongguan area — though the present campus itself is not actually located at the old bridge site. In 1994, the school established Zhongzheng District's only officially approved math/science gifted-and-talented class (數理資優班), a distinction it continues to hold.

螢橋國中為因應台灣新實施的九年國民義務教育，於民國57年（1968年）興建並開學。校名「螢橋」源自鄰近公館地區、日治時期川端公園附近一條已消失溪流上的「螢橋」，惟現今校址並非位於當年橋樑的實際位置。民國83年（1994年）本校成立中正區唯一經核准的數理資優班，此特色沿用至今。
