Yichang Elementary School

Yichang Elementary is the oldest documented school among Ji'an Township's institutions, tracing back to 1900 under Japanese rule as the "Taitung Japanese Language Training Center, Bobo Branch." The school was renamed multiple times over the following decades, relocated to its present Pingye/Dolan-area site on December 19, 1927, and took its current name in 1968. Over more than a century, Yichang has spun off an entire family of schools: it donated land that became Yichang Junior High, and it spawned Beichang, Huaren, and Daoxiang Elementary Schools as each became independent in turn.

宜昌國小是吉安鄉現有校系中歷史文獻記載最早的學校，源頭可追溯至1900年日治時期的「台東國語傳習所馬太鞍分教場」（波波分校）。此後校名歷經多次更迭，於1927年12月19日遷至現今平野／荳蘭一帶的校址，1968年確立現名。歷經超過一世紀的發展，宜昌國小分出了一整個學校家族：捐地促成宜昌國中的設立，並陸續孕育出北昌、化仁與稻香三所後來獨立設校的國小。
