A newer school built for a growing community.
Yangguang's preparatory office was established in 2002, and the combined nine-year school formally opened in 2005 as Taoyuan County Yangguang Junior High and Elementary School. It took its current name, Taoyuan City Yangguang Combined Junior High and Elementary School, in December 2015 when the county became a special municipality. As one of the city's rare combined "junior high plus elementary" institutions under a single nine-year curriculum, it was built to serve the growing school-age population of Yangmei's expanding residential neighborhoods.
