Xuetian Elementary School

Xuetian Elementary carries one of the most distinctive founding stories in Fuli Township. As early as 1904, villagers from Fuli's two largest settlements jointly reclaimed a stretch of wasteland and farmed it communally, using the harvest income specifically to fund the construction of a local public school. The practice left such an impression that in 1946 the settlement itself was renamed "Xuetian" — literally "school field." The school opened as a branch class in 1947, became a full branch campus in 1949, and gained full independence in August 1956, taking its present name in 1968. Today it sits at Hualien County's southernmost point and holds a designated focus on Indigenous education.

學田國小的創校故事，在富里鄉眾多學校中格外特別。早在明治37年（1904年），富里兩大聚落的居民便共同開墾荒地並集體耕作，將收穫所得專門用於興建地方公學校。這項傳統影響深遠，以致民國35年（1946年），這個聚落本身便被命名為「學田」——字面意思即為「用來辦學的田地」。學校於民國36年（1947年）以分班形式成立，民國38年（1949年）升格為分校，民國45年（1956年）8月正式獨立設校，民國57年（1968年）定名為現名。如今學校位於花蓮縣最南端，並設有原住民教育重點班。
