A river-terrace school rooted in sandy-soil farmland.
Xizhou Elementary began in 1955 as a branch campus of Houlong Elementary School, established to serve children in Xizhou Village — an alluvial river-terrace community along the Houlong River. It became an independent school in 1959, and has continued to serve this farming village ever since, part of a coastal Hakka/Hoklo-Hakka township famed for its sandy-soil agriculture.
