A century of schooling in Xishi Village.
Xishi Elementary was established in 1924, during the Japanese colonial era, as the "Zhutian Public School Xishi Branch Site." Over the following century, the school passed through the Japanese colonial era, the post-war Nationalist government period, and the post-martial-law expansion of Taiwanese education, producing generations of local graduates from Xishi Village and the surrounding farming community.

歷經三個時代
The school's history spans the Japanese colonial era, the post-war Nationalist government period, and Taiwan's post-martial-law educational expansion.
🌾 Rooted in Xishi Village
扎根西勢村
Located in Xishi Village within Zhutian Township, the school remains closely tied to the surrounding rice- and tobacco-farming community.
Rooted in the Liudui Hakka heartland.
Xishi Village sits within Zhutian Township, the historic "Zhong Dui" (中堆, Middle Pile) of the Liudui 六堆 Hakka militia confederation, formed by Qing-era Hakka settlers to defend their farming communities. The area's identity has long been tied to rice and tobacco farming, and Xishi Elementary's century of history mirrors the township's own path from Qing-era Hakka settlement through Japanese colonial rule to the present day. See the Pingtung county page for more on the region.
