Built where a temple once stood.
Xinxing Junior High School was founded in 1969 on Linsen North Road, on land freed up the year before when the well-known Xingtian Temple relocated to its present site — also in Zhongshan District. The school's very location is entwined with the move of one of Taipei's most-visited folk-religion temples, giving Xinxing an origin story tied directly to the neighborhood's religious geography.
Since the 2020 school year, Xinxing has been designated a Taipei "large-district" (大學區) school, letting any Taipei elementary graduate apply regardless of home-address zoning. The school is also well known for its competitive tennis team, which has produced multiple standout junior players over the years.
